Retaining Your Rock Stars: Hold "Stay" Interviews
Posted on November 30, 2012
Many companies hold exit interviews with valuable employees who are leaving to pursue outside opportunities. The main purpose is to learn what the company should have or could have been doing differently to retain that employee. But why wait until they are ready to leave before asking Rock Stars the same questions? Ask them now – "Why do you stay?" By asking the following questions, you can capitalize and build on what you are doing right.
- What is it about the company, your co-workers, the culture or the reward system that makes it such a great place?
- What could your company be doing differently that would make it even better?
The care and feeding of your top performers will take some time and creativity, but your investment will yield extraordinary returns.
